Review : One other thing... definitely expensive: I've just rung for a quote for C service. Merritts (Amersham) quoted 798 for parts labour VAT; but Stratstone-MK only 650 for the same.

Review : A year or so ago, I took my S2 in to Merritts - symptom was the engine malfunction indicator light being lit. The computer told them one of the cylinders was misfiring - he noticed the spark plugs cover was a little loose, so he re-seated it. £70 lighter, I drove off, the MIL light was off. 20 miles later (still travelling to work) the MIL light comes back on, and I have to go all the way back. It turns out it wasn't a loose connection - one of the spark plugs had failed. It would have been nice if they had spent the extra few seconds checking that when they were re-seating the cover, rather than costing me a morning. To be fair, they only charged for parts for the second visit.

Review : Bodyshop service (May 05) was OK (though I had to chase them) and the work when complete was good - The small stuff is more annoying - I'm still chasing an allen nut for the front cover (they used a philips!) and a clip for the bootlid prop that mysteriously went missing while they had it. Each time I speak to them they say they'll sort it and call me but have never called me back. (March 06) New wiper arm and blade was cheaper than EliseParts and in stock. Just been quoted £750 for a C service (no comparable quotes yet)
