temp gauge playing up

temp gauge goes below 70 and revs goes above 2000. what can this be

Not sure if the two are linked but I suppose it could be a mixture of two problems, broken temp sensor which you can test and the revs could be a sticky throttle body. Depends what car you have?

Elise 111s... Someone said it might be a head Gasket. But coolant level is fine.. It works perfectly under 5500 revs but above that it starts missing. Thanks for the interest
